Operating Principle
The device measures blood pressure by inflating the cuff around the arm and monitoring blood flow through the brachial artery during gradual cuff deflation.
Measurement Steps
- Seat the patient in an upright, comfortable position.
- Place the cuff on the arm with its upper edge approximately 1 inch above the antecubital crease.
- Secure the cuff firmly using the attached strap.
- Inflate the cuff to a level above the patient’s expected systolic pressure.
- Release air slowly until heartbeats are heard; record the first reading (systolic pressure).
- Continue releasing air until the heartbeats are no longer heard; record the second reading (diastolic pressure).
