Overview

Vaseline Dermatol Gauze Dressing is a sterile, petrolatum-impregnated medical gauze used as a contact layer to help reduce adherence to the wound, making dressing changes more comfortable. Uses

How it works

The petrolatum on the gauze forms a barrier between the wound surface and the outer dressing, helping limit sticking. A suitable secondary absorbent dressing can be applied on top as needed. Paraffin-impregnated contact layers are widely used in wound and burn care.

Directions

1. Wash hands thoroughly.
2. Clean the wound as directed by a clinician.
3. Carefully open the sterile pack.
4. Place the gauze over the wound.
5. Apply an appropriate secondary dressing and secure.
6. Change the dressing as advised.

Do not use if the package is open or damaged.
